Vintage Carved Stone Lovebirds on Marble Base
A wonderfully sweet pair of carved stone lovebirds, perched together on a contrasting veined stone base. The two birds lean toward one another with their beaks nearly touching, giving the small sculpture a quiet sense of movement and affection.
Each bird has been individually carved with softly defined wings, tails, eyes, and beaks. The translucent stone ranges from warm honey to creamy ivory, with natural variation and subtle striations that become especially beautiful when the piece catches the light. Their warm tones are set against a substantial gray-and-white veined stone base.
Unmarked, the exact maker, origin, and stone composition are unknown. The birds appear to be carved from a translucent decorative stone in the alabaster, onyx, or selenite family, while the base appears to be marble or a similar natural stone. We have intentionally left the attribution broad rather than assigning an unsupported maker or origin.

Styling & Display
Small enough to tuck into a bookshelf, cabinet, or collected tabletop, but distinctive enough to stand on its own. These would be particularly lovely among old books, brass, framed art, or other natural stone objects.
And because the birds are turned toward one another, it has that slightly sentimental quality without becoming overly sweet—a lovely little piece for a bedside table, wedding gift, or collected vignette.
Condition
Good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age. There is a small flea bite/chip at one tail tip, shown in the photographs. The carved edges have slight natural irregularities, including a more pointed area along one wing.
As with any carved natural stone, variations in tone, veining, translucency, and surface texture are inherent to the material and part of the character of the piece.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description.
