1915 The Art of the Exposition by Eugen Neuhaus | Silk Bound Panama-Pacific International Exposition Book
The Art of the Exposition
By Eugen Neuhaus
Published in San Francisco by Paul Elder and Company in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
A beautifully produced early twentieth-century volume documenting the architecture, sculpture, mural decoration, color schemes, and artistic achievements of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco. Published during the same year as the exposition, this work captures a remarkable moment in American art, design, and architecture following the rebuilding of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake.
This copy features a decorative silk-covered binding with an Asian-inspired design panel, hand-cut page edges, and numerous tipped-in photographic plates throughout. The mounted photographs were individually affixed during production and remain one of the most distinctive features of the book.
