Unsigned Moody Floral Oil Painting on Board in Gilt Frame
A wonderfully moody floral study, painted in oil on board and professionally presented in a warm gilt frame. Pale, water-lily-like blooms emerge from deep burgundy, olive, and shadowed foliage against a muted blue-green ground, giving an otherwise romantic subject an unexpectedly dark and atmospheric presence.
The painting is unsigned and undated. It was acquired from the same estate lot as a separate still life bearing a 1901 date, and both works bear framing labels from the Paul Sawyer Gallery in Frankfort, Kentucky. This association is noted as provenance only and should not be interpreted as establishing the age, artist, or date of this painting. The Paul Sawyer Gallery label on the reverse has been left undisturbed.
