Antique Silverplate Ram’s Head Centerpiece Bowl with Draped Chains | E.G. Webster & Son
An extraordinary early 20th-century silverplated centerpiece bowl featuring finely modeled ram’s heads, ornate pierced borders, and elegant draped chains suspended between each handle.
This richly detailed piece was acquired as an example attributed to E.G. Webster & Son, a respected American silverplate maker known for highly decorative forms. The underside is marked “985,” though no visible maker’s hallmark was found; the attribution is therefore presented as unconfirmed.
The bowl’s dramatic silhouette and classical ram’s head motifs give it a sculptural presence that feels equally at home filled with antique books, coral, sealed letters, or left entirely empty as a statement object.
