Antique Oil on Canvas — Moody Chapel Landscape

An atmospheric antique oil on canvas depicting a solitary chapel beneath a dramatic evening sky, with illuminated windows, a winding path, and water beyond. The dark palette and time-worn surface give the piece a wonderfully moody presence.

The painting is mounted to an older wooden stretcher with mitered corner construction and tacked canvas. It is unsigned and unframed, allowing the aged edges and original character of the canvas to remain visible.

There are two very small areas of canvas separation/puncture within the painted surface, each approximately 2–3 mm. One is located near the church tower and the other within the darker sky above. Both are subtle in normal display but visible upon close inspection and are photographed for accuracy.

Loose and frayed canvas threads are present on the reverse. No stretcher keys are present. The canvas remains securely mounted to the stretcher and is structurally sound.
