Vintage Racehorse Brass Nameplate Display Board

An unusual piece of equestrian history featuring a collection of 10 engraved brass nameplates that originally belonged to racehorses.

The individual nameplates are mounted to beautifully aged leather over a wood backing, creating a wonderfully unusual sporting display assembled from pieces with histories of their own. Variations in the size, typography, and patina of the individual plates give the piece the character of something collected and added to over time.

The leather is visibly aged and worn, with dryness and a slight wave toward the bottom. Several of the brass nameplates show light oxidation and age-related surface wear. One fastener is missing from the “Rejuvenate Gal” nameplate. These details have been left as found and contribute to the wonderfully timeworn character of the piece.

Ready to hang, this would be especially striking in a study, library, gallery wall, or layered among other pieces of sporting and equestrian history.

Condition

Vintage condition with visible age and wear throughout. Leather shows dryness, surface wear, and a slight wave toward the bottom. Brass nameplates exhibit varying degrees of light oxidation, patina, and surface wear. One fastener is missing from the “Rejuvenate Gal” nameplate.
