Vintage Mid-Century Rossini Turkey Platter | Made in Japan

A wonderfully nostalgic vintage turkey platter by Rossini, made in Japan and dating to the mid-20th century. This substantial earthenware platter features a handsome strutting turkey surrounded by an elaborate border of autumn fruits, flowers, and foliage.

The design begins with a rich brown transfer decoration, with select details embellished with hand-painted color in shades of yellow, pink, blue, and warm autumn tones. The combination gives the platter wonderful depth while retaining the slight variations and character associated with vintage decorated ceramics.

Measuring approximately 17 inches across, the platter has plenty of presence for a Thanksgiving table and is generously sized for serving. When not in use, the detailed turkey scene makes it equally beautiful displayed on a plate stand, sideboard, or dining-room hutch throughout the autumn season.

The reverse is impressed Made in Japan and retains its original Rossini paper label. The label remains attached but has areas of paper loss from age.

The original Rossini paper label remains attached to the reverse but has areas of paper loss. The platter is impressed “Made in Japan.”
