Vintage Cut Glass Hinged Dresser Box with Gold-Tone Bow & Wreath Clasp

A beautifully made vintage cut-glass dresser box with substantial weight, crisp geometric cutting and unusually decorative gold-tone metalwork.

The clear glass body is covered in a tightly worked diamond-cut pattern, with a radiating starburst cut into the base. Gold-tone metal mounts encircle the center of the box and are finished with rope-like detailing and an elegant bow-and-wreath clasp. The hinged lid operates smoothly and closes with a satisfyingly secure fit.

Its compact proportions and ornate hardware give it the character of a traditional vanity or dressing-table box—ideal for jewelry, keepsakes or other small treasures. The combination of clear cut glass and warm gold-tone metal makes it especially easy to layer among antique perfume bottles, silver, portraiture and other collected objects.

The piece is unmarked, and we have not attributed it to a particular maker or country of origin. While its weight and cutting are characteristic of quality decorative glass, we are conservatively describing the material as cut glass rather than crystal.

Very good vintage condition. No chips observed. There is slight interior clouding along with minor surface and age-related wear to the gold-tone metalwork.
