Venus de Milo Bust in Alabastrine with Original Tag
A smaller study of a familiar form—Aphrodite, held in alabastrine composition and softened by time.
Estate found and retaining its original tag, this bust references the classical Venus de Milo, rendered here at a scale meant for closer interiors—dressing tables, shelves, or beneath glass.
The surface carries a warm, natural patina throughout, with gold-toned detailing at the hair and base. Subtle tonal variation and light age-related markings give the piece depth and presence, rather than a uniform finish. The underside remains marked, with visible remnants of a prior label, consistent with age and storage.
There is a minor chip present along the base edge where the gold detailing has worn, along with a small chip to the arm tip and a darker mark to the back. Each is shown clearly in photographs and does not detract from the overall presentation. The piece stands securely and displays well from all angles.
A piece that reads as classical at a distance, but becomes more personal the closer it’s placed.
