A wonderfully timeworn pair of vintage hardcover books chosen as much for their beautifully aged bindings as for the stories inside.

The pair includes Chicken Every Sunday by Rosemary Taylor, a 1946 Triangle Books edition, and The Queen’s Physician by Edgar Maass, a 1948 Charles Scribner’s Sons edition.

With faded tan and deep navy cloth bindings, worn gilt lettering, and naturally toned pages, these books bring an authentically aged layer to bookshelves, stacked vignettes, mantels, and collected interiors. Their substantial wear gives them exactly the kind of character we love in decorative vintage books.

Condition

Heavy age-related wear throughout, including page toning, light foxing, and previous-owner writing in both books. Chicken Every Sunday has significant spine and binding separation with fraying and losses to the spine cloth; its pages and binding are delicate. The Queen’s Physician shows wear and losses along the spine and cover edges.

Because of their condition, these books are best suited for decorative display and styling rather than regular reading.

Vintage books. Age-appropriate wear is expected.
