Antique Ornate Brass Escutcheon Plate | Verdigris Patina Architectural Fragment

This ornate brass escutcheon plate carries the kind of layered surface only time can create—aged brass warmed by exposed golden tones, softened areas of oxidation, and deep blue-green verdigris gathered naturally within the scrollwork. Though modest in scale, the silhouette feels deeply architectural, almost like a salvaged detail lifted from a forgotten European cabinet, writing desk, or decorative door surround.

The pierced keyhole center is framed by flowing Rococo-inspired curves and asymmetrical flourishes, giving the piece a sculptural quality even when simply resting on a tabletop. One side retains more of its warm brass finish while the opposite side shows heavier oxidation and weathering, creating beautiful tonal contrast throughout the surface.
